Abstract:

Losses to comandra rust (Cronartium comandrae) on lodgepole pine are large; mortality in young stands sometimes exceeds 85%. This talk discusses methods for understanding the dynamics of the disease and especially the relationship with the host plant through which the disease spreads. Of interest is the development of methods for isolating rust resistance in different seedlots. The talk also illustrates and contrasts methods for understanding multivariate spatial outcomes through joint and conditional analyses and through shared frailties.
