Abstract:

Methods to integrate genomic data such as single nucleotide polymorphism data with gene expression data to better capture the genetic architecture of complex phenotypes will be developed. One key idea in the analysis is to model complex phenotypes at the level of a priori defined gene sets or groups of genes. The other key idea is borrow SNP information across genes in an automated fashion. Using simulations we show that the methods developed have greater power than standard gene set methods as applied to individual platforms. We then describe results obtained on the NCI60 data set as well as phenotypes from the The Cancer Genome Atlas data. Extensions to next generation sequencing and other genomic assays such as hypersensitive sites will be mentioned.
