Author(s): Bradley Jones*+
Companies: SAS Institute
Address: SAS Campus Drive, Cary, NC, 27513,
Keywords: computer-aided ; design of experiments
Abstract:

Neo, the protagonist in The Matrix, is a programmer by day and a hacker by night. Only when he takes the red pill does he realize that neither of these personas matches his true self. There are some parallels between my life and Neo's. My day job involves writing code supporting computer-aided design and analysis of experiments. But my self-directed mission in life is to make design of experiments a standard methodology in engineering practice. This talk describes the progress made towards the goal of designed experiments becoming standard operating procedure in engineering. It also deals with the nature of the commitment required to undertake and (hopefully) complete such a mission.
