Abstract:

We develop a methodology for Q-learning when the total reward is a right-censored survival time. The approach involves an adaptation of support vector regression applicable to right-censored outcomes. We established consistency and finite sample upper bounds. This research question has implications in the design of personalized medicine trials in cancer and in other life-threatening diseases.
