Abstract:

In clinical trials, adaptive randomization using stochastic minimization is a useful way to maintain the treatment allocation ratio across important baseline covariates and within clinical sites. For comparing two groups, statistical testing may be carried out using traditional methods or through the re-randomization procedure. In this presentation, we will discuss various features of re-randomization tests. In particular, we will provide a real example from a clinical trial when re-randomization testing was utilized. The corresponding re-randomization test yielded qualitatively different results from the conventional population model based testing procedure. We will discuss this issue under a general setting.
