Title: Nonparametric Estimation of Filaments
Author(s): Larry Wasserman*+
Companies: Carnegie Mellon University
Address: Department of Statistics, Pittsburg, PA, ,
Keywords: filaments ; astrostatistics ; density estimation
Abstract:

The matter in the universe forms a complex network of filaments and clusters. Estimating these filaments is a challenging problem. We discuss several nonparametric methods for estimating filaments. These include gradient-based methods and an extension of k-means clustering. This is joint work with Chris Genovese, Marco Perone Pacifico and Isabella Verdinelli.
