Abstract:
|
Some methodological challenges are characteristic of clinical biomedical research conducted with older study samples: potential bias from missing data in longitudinal studies, complex research designs for multicomponent interventions for geriatric syndromes, and analytical techniques suitable to second-stage translational research with older persons. Relevant methodological developments in joint modeling of mortality and longitudinal health outcomes, in research designs for multicomponent clinical trials, and in Bayesian hierarchical modeling of community interventions will be topics for discussion in this proposed roundtable. Practical resources reflecting advances in these areas are available from several new sources, among them the GRASP and GRILL projects being developed by a consortium of Claude D. Pepper Older American Independence Centers.
