Abstract:

The basic theory of QTL (Quantitative Trait Loci) mapping is to score a population for a trait according to the marker genotype, and then to use statistics to identify differences associated with the markers and the trait of interest. The permutation based methods have been used to estimate threshold values for quantitative mapping. A permutation test for equality of means does not control Type I error rate to its nominal value when variances are unequal. In this study we propose a modified t-test based on jackknife estimator of population variance. Monte Carlo method is used to show that the proposed test controls the type I error rate to given nominal value a. The Monte Carlo study compares the power of proposed jackknife t-test to Student t-test. The power of proposed test is higher for all the combinations of sample size and variance ratio.
