Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to construct a 25 item questionnaire to measure the quantitative attitudes of the graduate students in nursing and health science program. The questionnaire was developed in a sample of 110 students. Quantitative attitudes were defined as consisting of five domains: (a) knowledge of how much one thinks she/he knows descriptive statistics, (b) knowledge of how much one thinks she/he knows about hypothesis testing, (c) knowledge of how much one thinks she/he knows about statistical procedures, (d) utility, the extent to which one find statistical methods useful in his/her work, and (e) anxiety. The items were administered at the beginning of the semester using a 5-point Likert-type scale anchored by the commonly used disagree and agree designations. The questionnaire was found to correlate positively with scores of the midterm and final exams.
