Abstract:

The ASA is planning an Advocacy Day Thursday of JSM, where statisticians will meet with their representatives on Capitol Hill. We'll probably focus on two issues, one on funding (e.g. basic research funding for NIH & NSF, or funding for federal statistical agencies) and one policy (e.g. the Census, incorporating statistics in No Child Left Behind, or Climate Change). Those interested are invited to join a discussion in preparation for advocacy day, and about how to be an effective advocate in general.
