Keywords: Total solar radiation ; time series ; correlations
Abstract:

In this project we investigate monthly and hourly variations in solar radiation levels in 2007 at four different sites of the University of South Alabama mesonet. Two types of solar radiation are investigated: 1) photosynthetically active radiation or PAR (wavelengths between 400 and 700 nm) and 2) incoming total solar radiation in the daylight spectrum (wavelengths between 400 and 1100 nm). Solar radiation is the primary energy source for many meteorological, agricultural, and hydrological processes. Lastly, the relationship between solar radiation and precipitation is investigated.
