Abstract:

Strat-O-Matic Baseball is a dice-based game that simulates a Major League Baseball (MLB) game. Each player (batter and pitcher) for a MLB season is given a card that accurately reflects his results for the season. This poster illustrates how the author has used Strat-O-Matic Baseball to illustrate randomness and probability concepts to undergraduate students with a college algebra background and an interest in sports. As a culminating experience students are asked to create a Strat-O-Matic card for their favorite player using his previous season's batting statistics.
