Abstract:

The image grand tour (IGT) is an interactive technique to visualize multi-spectral images or multiple registered images. In the traditional IGT, the multi-dimensional pixels are explored using a grand tour and the projected pixels are visualized as a one-dimensional, gray-scale image. The one-dimensional nature of the IGT limits the complexity of the underlying processes that may be analyzed. In this paper, I present a novel method of performing a color IGT. I discuss a method of discovering multiple projections to one-dimension in a sequential manner with new images displayed in conjunction with previous images as a color image. Finally, I demonstrate the power of this method at visualizing complex spatial processes by applying it to a seismic land survey from south Texas to map a fluvial deltaic system.
