Abstract:

At California State University East Bay (formerly Hayward), assessment is mandated by the Chancellor's Office and the State legislature. What goes around comes around. Now executive offices are required to assess their efforts both in terms of satisfaction and student learning outcomes. When the administration comes to statistics for help, there may be student data, non-identifiable, of course, that can be used as learning tools in classes. The authors are collaborating faculty and Student Affairs Leaders. Data is used as examples in senior level multivariate statistics course. Standard multivariate methods are used to uncover information about student opinions about student services. Methods used include confirmatory factor analysis, multidimensional scaling, log linear models, clustering, and MANOVA.
