Abstract:

Body weight and gestational ages are two important variables in obstetrics research and clinical practice. Weight of a newborn can be measured accurately; however, gestational ages are calculated based on a mother's recall of the last menstrual period, which will introduce random or systematic errors. In this study we use Bayesian mixture models to identify misspecified gestational ages of preterm babies. Simulation studies are conducted and the method is applied to the 2002 birth data of the United States.
