Abstract:
|
Exposing undergraduate students to Bayesian ideas in their introductory statistics courses is important arguably not only from a Bayesian standpoint. Yet, this exposure is limited to Bayes rule on inverse probabilities and only occasionally includes inference based on conjugate prior-likelihood pairs, such as normal-normal or beta-binomial. This roundtable luncheon aims to bring together educators who in their introductory statistical courses taught Bayes beyond the traditional coverage for an exchange of ideas, examples, success and failure stories from their own experience. It is also aimed to educators who did not previously taught Bayes but want to start and hear about the challenges. Luncheon is moderated by Brani Vidakovic who teaches introductory bioengineering statistics at Georgia Tech and exposes undergraduates to both Bayesian and classical approaches on an equal footing.
