Abstract:

Creating lessons with presentation slides and extensive handouts can be time-consuming, both in the initial creation and in maintenance. Typically, even small changes to examples require rewriting external code and reworking slides. I will show how both creation and maintenance can be both simplified and made reproducible by creating lessons in an outlining program, transforming the outline to LaTeX, running the code through StatWeave to embed commands, results and graphs, and finally creating slides and handouts using beamer. This framework allows lessons to be flexible, and makes it possible to have handouts which contain much more material than could be presented in the slides.
