Abstract:
|
This talk discusses the problem of testing multiple Gene Ontology terms using multivariate gene set testing methods. There are logical relationships among hypotheses that are induced by the subset relationships among terms. Sequential testing methods have recently been proposed to solve the problem, but they suffer from low power. We proposed a hidden Markov model to compute the posterior probability of differential expression for each term and use its Bayesian interpretation to estimate the false discovery rate. Simulation results show that our method is much more powerful than the existing methods and can be used to obtain accurate estimates of the false discovery rate.
