Abstract:

In clinical trials, some endpoints suffer from excess zeros. In such cases, the distribution of this endpoint is heavily skewed to the right with a mode at "zero." Without paying attention to these zeros, we often simply fit an ANOVA or ANCOVA model and justify its robustness based on large sample sizes. In this presentation, suitable models for zero inflated continuous data will be explored based on simulated data or clinical trial data to find a robust candidate model under different operational characteristics.
