Abstract:

REACH US (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health Across the U.S.) is an umbrella of community-based programs aimed to eliminate health disparities among racial and ethnic groups. Five of the REACH US programs are based in the Greater Los Angeles areas with various overlapping geographies and target populations, and with different combinations of scientific interests in cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, adult immunization, and breast and cervical cancer. We will explore in this paper the potential of making cross-community comparisons, and discuss some of the issues. In particular, we evaluate the performance of Lohr's and Rao's pseudo-maximum likelihood estimator and Mercatti's multiplicity estimator.
