Abstract:

Elicitation has been an important research area and is applied to many areas to provide prior distributions for Bayesian analysis. The vague priors usually used in Bayesian phylogenetics do not capture knowledge available from non-genetic sources such as studies of physiology and development. This work gives a practical way to elicit a biologist's prior beliefs about phylogeny, and thus provide informative priors for Bayesian Phylogenetics.
