Abstract:

Detection of gene mutation of cancer cells in a mixture with normal cells can be useful for cancer diagnosis, prognosis and individualized treatment. We propose the algorithm MDLR for Mutation Detection based on Logarithmic Ratios of microarray signals and a set of linear classifiers for all class pairs. It is possible to adjust the sensitivity and specificity of the algorithm for different applications of detection of single base substitution and single base deletion. We also develop the software MSV (Mutation Signal Viewer) to visualize the classification results, individual logarithmic ratios and PHRED quality scores based on Wilcoxon's signed rank test.
