Title: Married to Mantel-Haenszel? Consider a Minimum-Risk Affair!

Abstract:

The Mantel-Haenszel test is a popular default for the analysis of stratified trials with binary (success/failure) endpoints. In this talk, we will show that the M-H method has good power properties only under a restrictive assumption that, unfortunately, is often violated in practice. We will review a "minimum risk" (MR) alternative to the MH test and quantify power (and $$$) gains of the MR versus the MH procedure using simulations. A numerical example will be used to reinforce the key message.
