Abstract:

This roundtable discussion will focus on academic statistical consulting centers that provide contract services (for a fee) to commercial clients. Many of the issues faced by academic statistical consulting centers which provide services to (often internal) academic clients may need to be approached differently when the objective is to provide services to commercial clients. Based on the participants' interests, this discussion will consider issues such as marketing, compensation, staffing, student involvement, pricing, competition, billing and collections, legal requirements and institutional arrangements.
