Title: Challenges in Teaching Statistics to Future Mathematics Teachers
Author(s): John R. Stevens*+
Companies: Utah State University
Address: 3900 Old Main Hill, Logan, UT, 84322-3900,
Keywords: education
Abstract:

Mathematics education majors often have distinct (and strong) opinions on the place and value of statistics in the secondary mathematics curriculum. Statistics educators can challenge these perspectives and help future mathematics teachers see a more substantial role for statistics in the curriculum they will be teaching. This roundtable coffee will focus on sharing experiences and strategies in teaching statistics specifically to future mathematics educators.
