Abstract:
|
Getting the message across to different people about environment and development often requires multiple types of information packaged together. BalatonTrend is an experimental information base that integrates and presents quantitative and qualitative information related to vulnerability and adaptation in multiple formats. BAT provides a platform for bringing together and communicating statistical and geospatial time series information complemented with analytics accessible to non-experts, in a way that cannot be communicated by presenting statistics and descriptive analysis alone. The tool was developed in the context of the Lake Balaton Adaptation Pilot Project (BAP), supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The BAP involved a development of a region-specific indicator system for both diagnosing vulnerability to global and local forces of change and for exploring adaptation.
