Abstract:

Gina Kolata is a journalist who writes about science and medicine for the New York Times. Statistical issues play fundamental roles in her writings. In this session we will outline some of these issues and indicate how she makes them understandable to her lay readership. Gina will also address how and why statisticians have helped her understand and clarify some important medical topics and controversies.
