Abstract:
|
Introductory applied biostatistics courses require easy-to-use statistical software; clinical research requires SAS as the lingua franca. Easy-to-use SAS? Oxymoron? SAS Enterprise Guide (EGuide) is an easy-to-use GUI for SAS that delivers a large subset of SAS via a point-and-click interface. Graphics are very easy. We describe how we use it to teach physician learners to perform basic statistical analyses (using outputs they will see throughout their research careers) as part of our clinical research curriculum. We will focus on the challenges and techniques associated with teaching EGuide synchronously to multiple distant sites and asynchronously to geographically dispersed web learners. We will also discuss use of additional software (SnagIt, Camtasia Studio, and Adobe Connect) that enables high-resolution visualizations to be effectively delivered to distant learners.
