Abstract:

On 31 March 2008 the Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Program Rule (Standards for Renovation Activities in Homes with Lead-Based Paint (402(c)) (LRRP rule) was signed by the EPA Administrator (www.epa.gov/lead/pubs/renovation.htm). This culminated a multiyear process of research and analysis and text preparation along with extensive public comment and peer review. This talk will describe the steps in that process; how the process fits into the scheme of Agency management; and focus on the features of the analyses carried out for the final LRRP rule that entailed statistical thinking and estimation.
