Abstract:

The high-throughput and high-density microarray technology has made it possible to study the epigenetic changes of DNA methylation and histone modification at a genome-wide level. Although the statistical issues surrounding the genomics data share similarities with those for microarray gene expression data, there are new challenges as different types of microarray are used and different biological questions are pursued. We will highlight the statistical methods that are being developed to analyze the data from tiling microarray and ChIp-chip experiments with respect to data normalization and modeling, hypothesis testing, and multiple correction issues. Recent developments on integrating gene expression data, methylation data and existing genome data are also discussed.
