Abstract:

CFSE-labeling experiment has become a standard tool to study the dynamics of cell populations, especially lymphocytes. A number of mathematical models have been proposed to model the temporal development of cell populations during these experiments, but little attention has been given to the statistical issues that arise with such data. In this talk, we will present a composite likelihood approach to estimate cell kinetic parameters from CFSE-labeling data in the context of multitype age-dependent branching processes. Properties of the proposed estimator are investigated using asymptotic theory and simulations. An application to T lymphocytes is presented.
