Abstract:
|
This paper gives a brief overview of the unifying approach for reconciliation presented in Dagum and Cholette (2006). A simplified implementation from Quenneville and Rancourt (2005) is also presented. In this implementation, a simple two-step method is proposed. The first step involves the temporal constraints and the second step, the contemporaneous constraints given the temporal constraints from the first step. Different ways to achieve the numerical computations of the second step will be highlighted - one of which is an innovative implementation of the methodology with an in-house SAS procedure developed at Statistics Canada and called PROC TSRAKING. Current issues and future developments will be discussed with illustrative examples.
