Abstract:
|
The Statistics Teaching Inventory (STI) is a survey of teachers beliefs and practices with respect to teaching a first course in statistics to undergraduates. Development of the STI is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation (DUE-0808862), and is a joint project between the University of Minnesota and the Ohio State University. This paper will present background literature that forms the underpinnings of the STI, discuss the methods used to develop the instrument, illustrate the type of information that the STI can provide, and discuss the larger goal of the project to gather longitudinal data on teaching undergraduate courses to track changes over time and alignment of teaching with reform recommendations.
