Abstract:

Start-up demonstration tests are used to decide whether to accept or reject equipment. A number of tests have been studied in the literature. In this paper, we look at some test criteria which involve the number of successes or failures within a specified number of trials, rather than consecutive successes or failures. We also look at ways that incorporate the notion of intermediate levels of performance or types of successes and failures. Some use is made of Markov chain methodology which has been used by the authors previously to study other types of start-up demonstration tests.
