Abstract:

In dose-response experiments involving two or more chemicals, it is often of interest to study the joint action of the chemicals. The case of experiments with binary response variable and one chemical (drug) is studied extensively with emphasis on ED50 estimations. If there are more than one chemical involved, the joint action of these chemicals are of particular interest to test for synergism, antagonism or additivity, where the effective doses will be multidimensional. In this talk, we develop techniques for constructing simultaneous confidence bands for the effective doses as an alternative to point-wise confidence intervals based on the delta and Fieller intervals. The simultaneous coverage probabilities of the proposed methods will be compared with that of the existing procedure based on the inversion of Scheffe-type simultaneous confidence intervals.
