Abstract:

Statisticians know that an important part of statistical practice is the documentation of the data and statistical methodology used. Statistical consulting in business often involves working with government regulatory agencies that have their own minimal reporting standards. These standards are not necessarily sufficient for the needs of statisticians. In particular, the consultant may need to come back to describe (or defend) a project two to three years after its completion. This paper discusses practices that are important to meet both the agency's requirements and the statistician's needs.
