Abstract:

Quantitative literacy is promoted, at least implicitly, in every statistics class we teach. We share a goal of producing students with "an aggregate of skills, knowledge, beliefs, dispositions, habits of mind, communication capabilities, and problemsolving skills that people need to engage effectively in quantitative situations arising in life and work." How do we promote quantitative literacy beyond the first statistics course so it is infused throughout the curriculum? What should each student know upon graduation if they are deemed "quantitatively literate"?
