Abstract:
|
Health insurance coverage in the U.S. and the characteristics of the uninsured population are of substantial importance because health coverage is related to individual health. Researchers have developed many explanations for why the national and state health insurance estimates from the Current Population Survey's Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS-ASCE) differ from state-initiated survey data collection activities, the National Health Interview Survey, the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey Household Component and the Survey of Income and Program Participation. We present results from a systematic comparison of health insurance estimates from these surveys to the CPS-ASCE using bivariate and multivariate techniques to see where the largest pockets of difference among these surveys is coming from.
