How the Dynamic Manipulation Capabilities of Fathom 2 Can Improve Students' Learning Experiences in Intro Stats and Stats II Courses - Continuing Education - CTW

In this interactive session, we'll illustrate how dynamic statistical software, the new release of Fathom, can be used to help students deal with conceptually difficult topics from the first two undergraduate statistics courses. For example, when dealing with sampling distributions, Fathom's ability to provide concrete representation of population, sample, and measures helps students hold onto the difference between cases in a sample and cases that make up a sampling distribution. This approach allows students to move naturally to look at inference based on techniques such as resampling that provide a more intuitive feel for difficult concepts such as p-value and confidence. For the second course, we'll demonstrate how a dynamic drag-and-drop interface and graphical representation of regression results helps students deal subtleties such as the effects of multicollinearity in multiple regression. Bringing laptops with fully charged batteries, though not required, will enhance the workshop experience.
