JSM Activity #CE_33TThis is the preliminary program for the 2005 Joint Statistical Meetings in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Currently included in this program is the "technical" program, schedule of invited, topic contributed, regular contributed and poster sessions; Continuing Education courses (August 7-10, 2005); and Committee and Business Meetings. This on-line program will be updated frequently to reflect the most current revisions. To View the Program: You may choose to view all activities of the program or just parts of it at any one time. Robust Regresion and Quantile Regression Using SAS/STAT Software - Continuing Education - CTW
ASA | ||
Instructor(s): Colin (Lin) Chen, SAS Institute, Inc., Ying Wei, Columbia University
This Computer Technology Workshop (CTW) introduces two new SAS/STAT procedures for regression modeling. The first part of the course describes the ROBUSTREG procedure, which detects outliers and provides resistant results in the presence of outliers. Participants will learn to select from the estimation methods available in the procedure and interpret diagnostic results provided in the output. The second part of the course describes the QUANTREG procedure, which computes conditional quantile functions and conducts statistical inference on regression parameters. Participants will learn to explore the heterogeneity of both cross-sectional and longitudinal data, and interpret the quantile effects and quantile processes. In both parts, basic and advanced features of the procedures will be presented with examples, including the construction of growth charts for medical measurements. This CTW requires basic knowledge of linear regression models.
