Power and Sample Size Analysis Using SAS/STAT Software - Continuing Education - CTW
ASA
Instructor(s): John Castelloe, SAS Institute, Inc.
This workshop demonstrates the SAS/STAT Power and Sample Size application, a web interface, and two procedures, PROC POWER and PROC GLMPOWER. Numerous examples of sample size and power determination are illustrated with the new software, including proportion tests, t tests, confidence intervals, equivalence tests, survival analyses, correlation, regression, ANOVA, and more complex linear models. After reviewing basic methodology, the workshop illustrates how to use the software to compute power and sample size, perform sensitivity analyses for other factors such as variability and type I error rate, and produce customized tables, graphs, and narratives. These tasks are an important aspect of planning and help produce studies with useful results for minimum resources. More information about the software (which is production in SAS version 9.1) is available on the web at www.sas.com/statistics.
