Title: Metrics Used To Evaluate Purdue University's Statistical Consulting Service
Author(s): Bruce Craig*+
Companies: Purdue University
Address: 150 N University St, West Lafayette, IN, 47907, United States

Abstract:

Purdue's Statistical Consulting Service (SCS) is supported through the College of Science and Statistics Department to provide free-of-charge statistical software and design consulting services to the entire university community. To justify this support, the SCS uses several metrics to evaluate its success, both in terms of discovery (i.e., benefiting Purdue's research) and education (e.g., training our graduate students). In this talk, we will describe these metrics and how they fit in with the structure of the SCS. For example, because we are a free-of-charge service, our metrics for discovery primarily focus on cost and include not only the number of clients/projects per semester, but also the percentage of projects that have financial support.
