Title: A Simulation Study To Test the Accuracy of Using Maximum Likelihood Predictive Density in Quality Control Assuming the Power Rule Model and the Exponential Distribution

Abstract:

In this paper, we discuss the derivation of the Maximum Likelihood Predictive Density. The idea is to test a random sample of manufactured items under high stress levels for a period of time. Using the Type-II censored data, one can test a hypothesis of whether the process is in control. For a given stress level, which period of time should be used, and for a given time period, which level of stress should be used are two practical questions in this approach. We find the time period for a given level of stress and, by using a simulation study, check whether this gives correct coverage. We used two and three levels of acceleration for this study. This method consistently slightly underestimates the time period. We suggested an adjustment to improve the method.
