Title: Genealogical Theory for a Random Mating Population with Two Sexes and an Autosomal Locus

Abstract:

Consider a random mating population that has Nm males and Nf females in each generation. We assume that at time 0, a random sample of n copies of a gene is taken from this population. Then, for a special case considered by Sewall Wright in 1931, it is possible to obtain a generalization of the haploid theory of genealogical processes developed by Felsenstein in 1971. Coalescent theory then holds also. It is conjectured that these results hold generally, regardless of the effective population size, if n< < min(Nm,Nf).
