Abstract - #303023
Title: The Second Course in Statistics
Author(s): Laura Chihara*+
Companies: Carleton College
Address: Dept of Math and CS, Northfield, MN, 55057, United States
Keywords: second course ; AP statistics ; intro stats
Abstract:

A first statistics course at the level of either Moore and McCabe or Larsen and Marx is commonly the end point in statistics for many students. What is the entry point for students coming into college with AP credit in statistics? What would be an appropriate, interesting second course in statistics? Can one course serve the two populations (intro stats and math stats students)? Should the second course focus on applied statistics or theory or both? We will discuss these and related issues.
