Abstract #302821

This is the preliminary program for the 2005 Joint Statistical Meetings in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Currently included in this program is the "technical" program, schedule of invited, topic contributed, regular contributed and poster sessions; Continuing Education courses (August 7-10, 2005); and Committee and Business Meetings. This on-line program will be updated frequently to reflect the most current revisions.

To View the Program:
You may choose to view all activities of the program or just parts of it at any one time. All activities are arranged by date and time.

The views expressed here are those of the individual authors

Abstract:

RNA interference (RNAi) is a gene silencing phenomenon where an RNA introduced to a cell ultimately causes the degradation of the complementary cellular mRNA and leads to the silencing of gene activity. RNAi promises to be one of the most useful laboratory tools for gene function analysis and drug discovery. RNAi high throughput screening (HTS) is cropping up as a new biotechnology for discovering and developing drugs, which will lead to a novel class of drugs---RNAi drugs. In this presentation, I will introduce RNAi concept and mechanism and describe RNAi HTS technology and its applications in the pharmaceutical industry. I also will briefly demonstrate the visualization and analysis of RNAi HTS data in drug discovery.
