Today's real-time network applications, such as video and voice, demand excellent Quality of Service (QoS) metrics to avoid service degradation. The need for a light-weight but responsive monitoring system to quickly pinpoint trouble spots in the network is imperative. Such a system must determine end-to-end delay, jitter, and packet loss from many source/destination pairs and relate them to the network link topology. Without being able to graphically view this data as it relates to the network topology, the network administrator would not be able to understand the relationship of the end-to-end problems to the network devices that might be causing them. We will describe and demo a distributed system for the collection and analysis of such data and its real-time visualization capabilities.
