Abstract:

Statistics Canada has implemented an integrated metadata repository based on ISO 11179 covering all of Statistics Canada's 400 statistical surveys. It provides extensive information on survey methods and data quality of survey results as well as definitions of the concepts, variables, and classifications used in the survey. The metadata are linked to the published data from each survey so it serves as an effective search mechanism or data on Statistic's Canada's web site.
