Abstract:

These last 80 years have seen statistics grow from passive to proactive, from being presented as a way to extract information from existing data to being leveraged as a foundational strategy for growth, productivity, quality, and safety. Nowhere has its energizing impact been felt more widely than in the food industry with applications in hard sciences such as product development, research, quality, and engineering to those in softer applications such as marketing, market research, sales, and advertising. The most recent focus has been on leveraging suites of quality tools systematically for food safety and for process performance in and out of manufacturing. This talk will focus on examples of applications of quality tools and the impact such applications have made on human welfare at Kraft.
