Abstract:

This paper explores uses of the longitudinal file from the National Population Health Survey in analyzing health behavior changes, particularly smoking cessation. The data can be used for examining the association of smoking cessation with marital status change and with pregnancy. Models can be constructed for the prediction of smoking cessation from behavior and attitude variables. Statistical challenges arise from interval censoring of event times.
